An elegantly designed 1940's Marcel Boucher signed looping ribon brooch created with lusterous sterling silver and pave set rhinestones. Marked sterling 2071 as well as with the Boucher Phrygian cap mark circa 1940's. In fine vintage condition. Just shy of 2" in length.
Marcel Boucher was born in Paris in 1898. After World War l he worked as an apprentice designer for Cartier in Paris. In the 1920's Marcel transferred to Cartier New York as a full fledged designer. During the 1930's depression the demand for fine jewelry collapsed and Marcel found work at Mazer Bros. where he became facinated by the design possibilities of costume jewelry and in 1937 with Arthur Halberstadt he opened Boucher Jewelry.
